Casting and Splinting Course Objectives

Educational objectives:

  • To understand and apply the basic techniques for casting and splinting. 
  • Understand the basic materials involved in casts and splints. 
  • Differentiate between casts and splints.
  • Understand the indications for cast vs. splint.
  • Understand the proper way to mold a cast or splint.
  • Understand proper cast removal.
  • Review cast and splint care. 

Target audience:  This workshop is intended for healthcare providers including physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, registered nurses, medical assistants, and cast techs.

EBP Concussion Prevention and Management in Athletics: Effective Safety Assessment and Return-to-Play Strategies

  • Interpret common signs and symptoms of concussion based on the

  • Review athletic accommodations needed for concussion care in the progression and return to full activity.
